A New Media Art Director by profession, and Artist by trade, Jones’ work and art focus on dualism. As an Art Director, she balances art and technology, form and function, left and right brain. As an artist, she balances art and science to explore the physical and metaphysical worlds; a juxtaposition of reality and abstraction in both style and subject matter. Her goal as an artist is to evoke questions about our perceptions and the true nature of reality.
Having had the opportunity to be immersed in, and inspired by nature as a child, Jones’ artistic foundation is deeply rooted in realism with a focus on nature. She still enjoys creating these works today. In 2008, fascinated by the origins of matter and our ancestral connection to the macrocosm, she began an ongoing series titled After Singularity. After Singularity combines art and science to create hyperrealistic celestial portraits of the known universe. In 2010, in direct contrast to After Singularity, she began a dual series titled Metaphysical. While After Singularity focuses on physical matter, Metaphysical transcends matter and the laws of nature to explore spirituality, mythology, symbolism, and problems not understood or explainable by current scientific methods.
Jones was born in 1983 and raised in Upsalquitch, New Brunswick. After graduating as Valedictorian in 2001, she received scholarships entering the Applied Arts (Graphic Design) programme at NBCC. She then went on to study Virtual Environments Interactive Design at the Centre for Arts and Technology. Since graduating from CATAC with honours in 2004, she has worked as a Photographer, Graphic and Web Designer, Commercial Arts Instructor, and Art Director. She currently holds an Art Director position at a New Media design and development company she owns and operates with her business partners in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
